Sherborne MRF Sprinkler Upgrade
Networked sprinkler controls and full L1 fire detection across a 12,000m² Materials Recovery Facility, handed over with full single-line drawings and integrated conveyor shut-down logic.

A high-risk site with zero tolerance for downtime.
Materials Recovery Facilities are notoriously difficult environments for fire and life-safety systems. Heavy dust loading, near-constant mechanical vibration, and conveyor lines that can’t be stopped without shutting the whole site, every detail of the design has to anticipate the building actually working.
The client needed a sprinkler control system that could speak to the existing process control network, networked detection across all fourteen zones of the building, and a graphics panel in the operations office that meant any incident could be located and isolated without leaving the desk.
Quick Overview
Networked sprinkler control
Twin-zone wet pipe controls with redundant pump-house wiring and remote start/stop signalling.
L1 addressable fire detection
1,200+ devices across 14 zones, with high-airflow aspirating cover over the picking line.
Graphics-panel monitoring
Single-screen system status in the operations office with audit trail logging.
Conveyor shut-down integration
Cause-and-effect interface that idles the picking line on confirmed activation.
Phased commissioning
Delivered in three weekend windows so the site never lost more than 36 hours of operation.
Five of our disciplines, one site.
Full Life Safety Monitoring
Networked detection, interface units and graphics-panel monitoring across estates.
Pump Wiring & Control Circuits for Sprinkler & Wet Riser Systems
Sprinkler pump houses, jockey controls, bespoke switchgear, wired and signed off.
Fire Safety Servicing & Maintenance
Scheduled servicing of existing fire alarm and electrical systems, with reactive cover.
Fire Alarm System Installation, Design & Commissioning
Addressable and conventional fire alarm design, installation and certification.
Pre-Action & Deluge Systems
Specialist controls for double-interlock, single-interlock and deluge sprinkler systems.
WSD scoped, installed and commissioned the lot without ever stopping the line for more than a weekend. The drawings landed before the certificate did.
